		<title>Black-Fronted Dotterel</title>

			The Black-fronted Dotterel (Elseyornis melanops) are only about 15cm or 6&quot; from tip to tail, and being well cammouflaged along their back, they can be difficult to spot at the water&#039;s edge, unless they move. They have a habit of turning their back to intruders, I suspect to hide the red and white on their front.www.alanfear.com/thespit.phpwww.alanfear.com

			&lt;img src=&quot;http://fluffyfeathers.com/thumbnails/thumb_20120510135842_14586-dune fan flower-s.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
			Amongst the sand dunes of the spit, there are several plants that grow as goundcovers. This one is called a Dune Fan Flower, with the scientific name Scaevola calendulacea.The flowers are sweetly scented, so another commoname for it is the &quot;Scented Fan Flower&quot;. The flowers are blue and about 2cm across and present all year, and the result is small blue fruit which birds enjoy.A prostrate perennial shrub, with fleshy leaves. It is a good sand stabiliser and is often found growing amongst sand spinifex, pigface, beach primrose and snake vine.www.alanfear.com/thespit.phpwww.alanfear.com

			The base of Purling Brook Falls, which are located in Springbrook, west of the Gold Coast. It is approx 40m high. There is a track that goes behind the falls, and winds it&#039;s way back to the top. There had been a landslip, so we had to go back the way we came in, all up hill too...phew!www.alanfear.com/thespit.phpwww.alanfear.com
