The Coombabah Lakelands Reserve, on the Gold Coast, is a great place to see flocks of Black-winged Stilts (Himantopus himantopus). They are seasonally nomadic and spring is their time for the Gold Coast. When disturbed they will take to the air as one, ducking and weaving as they circle around, legs trailing behind. The changing light on them as they weave in the air, is beautiful to see. |
